The following databases are newly acquired this semester.
From 1717 through 1836 the governments of Spain and Mexico collected in San Antonio de Bexar (when that city was the capital of Texas under Spanish and Mexican rule) an amazing series of official documents detailing the military, civilian, and political life of the Spanish province of Texas and the Mexican state of Coahuila y Texas. These records, which have become known as the Bexar Archives, constitute the most complete and detailed primary source in existence for the study of colonial Texas. The Archives, housed at the University of Texas at Austin, consist of 250,000 pages of manuscript documentation and more than 4,000 pages of printed material on colonial and regional history. This collection presents approximately 3,000 rare pamphlets, including publications from Spain, Portugal, Latin America and the Philippines, as well as more than 100 German pamphlets published in Spanish. Distributed throughout Spain, Germany, Italy, the Soviet Union and North America, the pamphlets in this collection represent the opinions and philosophies of the insurgents, anarchists, socialists and communists. The pamphlets contain a wealth of information on Spanish and international history, ideology, political science, church and state conflicts, nationalism, socialism, fascism and communism.
One of five other in-copyright collections under the GPA CRL Alliance, including the complementary collection Soviet-Era Ukrainian Newspapers The Local and Independent Ukrainian Newspapers collection traces the history of Ukraine during this early period of independence, and the events leading up to the Orange Revolution (2004–2005). Comprising over 900 titles, this database includes local newspapers from over 340 cities and towns—including publications from each of Ukraine’s 27 regions. This hyperlocal coverage provides researchers with granular insight into regional and ethnic interests, concerns, and conflicts that are still relevant today.
Many of the titles are in Ukrainian and Russian; this collection also includes ethnic newspapers in languages such as: Armenian, Crimean Tatar, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Polish, and more. A limited number of contemporaneous Ukrainian community publications from other territories are also included.

Founded in 1990 by the government of the Russian Federation, Rossiiskaia gazeta (Российская газета, Russian Newspaper) is a Russian newspaper of public record based in Moscow with 13 regional offices, and foreign bureaus in the US, France, the UK, Germany and elsewhere. Boasting a nationwide circulation, the newspaper covers domestic and foreign news, economics, culture, sports, and governmental affairs.
Comprising five titles and more than 50,000 pages, the Soviet-Era Ukrainian Newspapers collection includes national newspapers from three cities (Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Lviv), covering the early Soviet era of Ukraine’s history. These titles offer granular insight into important events in Ukraine’s history, including the Ukrainian War of Independence and the Holodomor. The collection includes newspapers in both Ukrainian and Russian.
