Read by QxMD

What is "Read by QxMD"?

We have partnered with Read by QxMD to bring you easy access to our library journal subscriptions.

This app is a literature surveillance/table of contents alert app which provides a single place to keep up with new medical and scientific research. 

  • Curate your feed by filtering for your professional specialty and your favorite journals. 
  • Save collections of articles that are important to you.
  • Browse abstracts and download full text articles available through the UT Libraries' journal subscriptions. 

The app is available via the Apple App Store and the Google Play store. The Read web app is also available for use on your computer.

 

How to set up Read by QxMD

Download Read by QxMD in the Apple App Store, at Google Play, or for use online, here: https://qxmd.com/read-by-qxmd. You will be asked to create a Medscape Network Account, if you do not already have one. 

Then, follow these steps so as to be able to access full text articles of the UT Libraries' subscribed journals through the Read app:

Step 1: click on settings cogwheel

 

Step 2: Click on "Institutional Access"

 

Step 3: Add your institution , i.e. University of Texas at Austin, then set up automatic login with your UT EID and password

Browzine

BrowZine lets you easily browse and read our journal collections. To access via a browser, just visit our Browzine site: http://browzine.com/libraries/3030

  • Browse journals by subject area and across disciplines
  • Read/download full articles
  • Save articles to EndNote, Mendeley, Zotero, RefWorks, Dropbox, and other service

Journal OR Search Alerts

You can set up an alert through many library databases.  For instance, in PubMed, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your personal account (upper right hand corner has the "log in" button)
    • Log in with University of Texas at Austin - might need to click on "more login options" to choose the university
    • This will prompt you to sign in with UT EID and password
  2. Run a search
  3. Set up the alert 
  4. Choose the frequency and other parameters for your search alert.
