Middle Eastern Studies

As Middle Eastern Studies Librarian, Dr. Correa develops and manages information resources in support of study, teaching, and research on a variety of subjects relating to the Middle East in the context of a strong and well-established interdisciplinary Middle Eastern Studies Program at the University of Texas at Austin. She serves as a local expert on Middle Eastern Studies library topics and provides both collection and liaison services to the Middle Eastern Studies community at UT and elsewhere. Working closely with relevant programs and institutions on campus, nationally, and internationally, Dr. Correa seeks to develop new initiatives and productive collaborations.

In her own research, Dr. Correa specializes in formative and post-formative Islamic legal theory and theology, and in the pre-modern intellectual history of the eastern regions of the Islamicate world (especially present-day Uzbekistan). Her interests include social epistemology, manuscript history, multilingualism, and the life and works of ‘Umar Najm al-Din al-Nasafi (d. 537/1142).
