Survey Creation
The Qualtrics Survey Design Tool can help you to create surveys for market research. 
Choose a Brand
  • Ad Age Data Center: Select Datacenter from top menu > Company & Family Trees > Marketer Trees 2015.  Database of the 100 Leading National Advertisers. Features U.S. ad spending, division sales, personnel, brands and agencies.
To make the audit easier, look for:
  • Brands that represent entire public companies
  • Brands that are at least owned by public companies
  • MarketLine Advantage : Search for an industry keyword, company name or brand name, then select the Industry tab at the top of the page.
  • IBISWorld:  Contains industry reports with key statistics and analysis on market characteristics, operating conditions, current and forecase performance, major industry participants, and more.  
Company Financials
  • Mergent : Search for a company name. Look in the Company Financials tab for detailed financials. Income Statement > Selling, General & Administrative Expenses, Operating Expenses, or Marketing & Administrative Expenses
  • Business Source Complete : Search for a brand name and the keywords 'sales' or 'revenue'.
  • Thomson ONE : Company overviews, news, financials, comparables, and investment bank reports. You must use Internet Explorer.  Here is a video explaining how to find investment bank reports in Thomson ONE:
Marketing Activities
Mergent : Search for a company name. Then look in the Reports tab for the annual reports.

Ad Age Data Center: Company’s annual ad expenditures by media type, megabrand media spend.

Redbooks: Quick Search for a company to see the ad expenditures and the types of media purchased.

Business Source Complete : Search for a brand name and the keywords 'marketing', 'advertising', 'campaign', 'commercials', 'promotion', 'expenditure', 'spend', etc.

Mintel : Create a profile with your McCombs email address. Then search by keyword for a brand name, industry, or specific market.
