Course Materials at the Library

The library has the ability to purchase books for courses, or accept personal copies of the material and place them on reserve. This facilitates access to the book for students that have opted not to purchase the materials and students who need to consult the resource but don't have it with them. The loan period is shorter than the traditional semester loan (examples: 2 hours, 1 day, 3 days, etc.) We have two modes of course materials available:

  • Physical items (print books, DVDs, etc.) - a library of your choice would be selected to serve as the home for the material for the semester. Personal items can also be accepted to place on reserve.
  • Electronic items (scans of chapters, articles, ebooks) - an ebook can be affiliated with your class in the library catalog. Sometimes, we'll have the ability to restrict long-term checkout of the e-resources to further facilitate book sharing. For chapters and sections of books, copyright does come into play - we're happy to consult on this matter.

We can also place other types of materials on reserve, not just books.
