Find E-Books

Virtual Access

The UT Libraries will be operating at limited capacity during the Fall 2020 semester due to social distancing restrictions. As such, students will not be allowed to access the stacks in PCL or any of the branch libraries. While it is possible to order a print book for pick up at the PCL Info Desk on the second floor, we recommend that students first check to see if what they need is available in e-format.

You can find ebooks if you search on the library website using the following process. See the box at the bottom of this column for screenshots of the process.

1) Perform your keyword search in the main library search bar as you would normally.

2) Once your results are displayed, go to the left hand menu. Under Show Only, select Available Online. Under Resource Type, select Books

3) Once you find the ebook you want (such as this one) click on the title. Under View Online, select the ebook provider. In the linked example, the ebook provider is Ebook Central Perpetual. This should bring you to the ebook.

Note: You have to be signed in to access ebooks. If you are not, select the sign in option in the top left hand corner of screen.

While this is the easiest way to find ebooks through the UT Libraries, the box below describes some of the other ways to access ebooks. If you have questions, please use the chat option on the right hand of the screen or email your course librarian.
