The focus of this subpage is to highlight the various ways in which technology can potentially intervene in a language course. The resources on this subpage are divided into three topics, outlined below.
While there is not research that corroborates the efficacy of acquiring a language solely through use of technology (such as language-learning applications), a lot of research supports the purposive use of technology within an educator-directed curriculum. In other words, technology can certainly enhance language learning and should thus be conceived as a tool among many in the language educator’s repertoire. For further discussion about technology for language educators, see the ACTFL position statement on “The Role of Technology in Language Learning.”
