Find things in print in PCL

How can I limit by format and location?

Databases index down to the item (articles, typically) level to allow you to search within publications. But they do not connect you to our physical collections here on campus. So, how can you limit to what is here? You have to use our all-in-one search

Below is a screenshot of what it looks like to limit to location and to physical copy. You may limit to magazine, but keep in mind that plenty of interviews are collected in books, so be cautious. This is just to point out that additional limiter.

limit by physical copy, location to pcl and you can limit to magazines, but you will miss books if you do.

Stacks Guide (floors and stacks location info)

How do you read a call number?

  • Read from top to bottom
  • The first line is always a Letter Line and is filed alphabetically.
  • The second line is a Whole Number line and is filed numerically.
  • If there is a third line, it is usually a decimal, then a letter followed by a number (as in .C546)
  • Other lines may include volume numbers, copy numbers, dates or a combination.
