Italian Studies

Welcome

Italian Studies

The UT Libraries acquire material in multiple languages and all formats to support language learning and the Italian Studies degree program, as well as the Romance Linguistics Portfolio Program within the Department of French & Italian. A number of departments within the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Fine Arts also require Italian material for advanced degrees. Strengths of the collection include literary history, film, linguistics, and the Medieval/Renaissance periods. Materials in the Perry-Castañeda Library, the Fine Arts Library and Benson Latin American Collection are complemented by the Italian collections of the Ransom Center, which include the Aldine and Medici collection of rare books, the Ranuzzi manuscript collection, and manuscripts by Luigi Pirandello, Carlo Levi, Alberto Moravia, and several others. A core collection of cineromanzo and fotoromanzo are being acquired to support faculty research.

The Italian Collection aligns most closely with the Department of French & Italian and the Center for European Studies.
