Here are some tips for using sources to find more sources and for mining source records in databases for more sources.
1: Once you have one source - this could be a course reading or your course book - you can check the references for more sources. This is because sources within a topic area exist within conversation with one another and are using one another's research as evidence. In some databsaes, like Google Scholar, you can see who cited the article in their work:
2: Use the same language that researchers use (see Keywords are important page at left). Mine the abstract and database records for new and related terms to follow the conversation (open image in new tab to enlarge):
