X is an important source of born-digital data and scraping allows for that data to be collected for research.
While scraping Twitter could be done for free without an API key, X now requires an expensive subscription to access any significant amount of Tweets. A free account currently allows for only 100 Tweets to be read per month. However, this can be subject to change at any time and may be further limited. Information and pricing on the different subscription tiers can be found on the X Developer Platform.
Be aware that while you may find a guide on scraping X without an API key, this violates their terms of service and may be in violation of copyright law.
