Print, Electronic, and Requesting Copies

The collections of the libraries at UT are large and have good coverage of sustainability topics --- though we don't promise to have everything of interest. Historically, the collection was print but now we usually buy e-materials when that format is available.

Please take advantage of these services --- they are available to everyone currently affiliated with UT-Austin and there are no charges for the services:

Interlibrary Loan
Use this service to request material not held at UT. Usually, Interlibrary Loan will supply print books, if needed, but for your Maymester class, it will be practical only to ask for copies of chapters or articles --- these can be supplied to you wherever you are. Copies are often supplied in just a few days.
Get a Scan of a Book Chapter or Article
A great service on and off campus. You need a copy of an article of chapter in the UT collection or from elsewhere --- it can be supplied. Some limits apply. Copies are usually supplied in just a few days.
Suggest a Purchase
You may suggest purchase of a book. Getting a print book before you leave for a Maymester class isn't practical but if we can buy it as an e-book, that is usually fast --- in just several days.
Pick It Up
For Maymester work, this will be for before you travel. To save time, ask staff to find and pull books for you. This also works (if you have time) if the book is out to someone else and you want to get the book back from the person. (It's anonymous.)
