Fall 2021 at the UT Libraries

Building Access

  • All Libraries' locations, with the exception of the Architecture & Planning Library and the Benson Latin American Collection which are closed for construction, reopened to UT and community users on August 23, 2021. See UT Libraries hours.
  • PCL is open 24/7.
  • Access to PCL requires a UT ID from 8pm to 7am.

Collections Access

  • HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access ended August 16. For more information, see our HathiTrust page.
  • PCL book stacks reopened to users August 17. All other UT Libraries locations book stacks reopened August 23.
  • Get a Scan, Pick it Up (request and recall), and Interlibrary Loan Services are available.
  • Special Collections and Archives in the Benson Latin American Collection, Architecture & Planning Library and Alexander Architectural Archive will be available by appointment.


Technology and Equipment

Research Help, Instruction and Writing Center Services

  • Library staff are available to support your research through our chat service, email and virtual and in-person consultations.
  • Library staff are available to support your teaching through in-person and virtual instruction, assignment design consultation, tailored research guides, tutorials and other asynchronous instruction.  
  • The University Writing Center, located in PCL, will offer in person and virtual services.

Course Materials Support 

  • At faculty request, the UT Libraries provides course materials electronically and in print through our Course Materials Service.

Borrowing and Returning Materials

  • Users may check out and return materials to all open UT Libraries' locations.
  • Users may request items through Pick it Up to be sent to any open UT Libraries location for check out.  
  • Users may apply in person or online to sponsor a Proxy Borrower to check out Libraries materials on their behalf. See information and the request form.
