What is a proxy borrower?
UT faculty and professional staff may sponsor up to four proxy borrowers to check out materials on their behalf. Proxy borrowers sponsored by a UT faculty or professional staff member use their personal UT ID card to check out materials on the sponsor's behalf and those items are charged to the sponsor's account. All proxy transactions are part of the sponsor's account: items checked out by the proxy are indistinguishable from items checked out by the sponsor.
Who may sponsor a proxy borrower?
Current and retired University of Texas at Austin Faculty and Professional Staff may appoint up to four individuals concurrently to act as their proxies in borrowing library materials to support the faculty/staff member's library research. Formally appointed Visiting Scholars and University of Texas System Regents, administrators and professional staff may also appoint proxies.
Who may serve as a proxy borrower?
Proxy borrowers must be affiliated with the University of Texas at Austin and have a valid University of Texas at Austin photo ID.
How do I set up a proxy borrower?
The faculty or professional staff member submits a request to UT Libraries Borrower Services. Borrower Services will notify the sponsor and the proxy when the proxy settings have been completed.
