Open Educational Resources provide free alternatives to printed textbooks. OER materials are published under an open license enabling free use for teaching, learning, and research purposes. OERs can include textbooks, full courses, lesson plans, videos, tests, software, or any other tool, material, or technique that supports access to knowledge, and many of these resources can be linked to or uploaded into a course page.
"OER Commons offers a comprehensive infrastructure for curriculum experts and instructors at all levels to identify high-quality OER and collaborate around their adaptation, evaluation, and use to address the needs of teachers and learners."
"OpenStax is a nonprofit based at Rice University, and it’s our mission to improve student access to education. Our first openly licensed college textbook was published in 2012, and our library since scaled to more than 20 books for college and AP courses used by hundreds of thousands of students. Our adaptive learning technology, designed to improve learning outcomes through personalized educational paths, is being piloted in college courses across the country."
"The Open Textbook Library provides a growing catalog of free, peer-reviewed, and openly-licensed textbooks. Explore the library's books to see if an open textbook fits your course's, and students', needs."
