This guide is designed to help you complete your research assignment for this course. Many of the tools and resources you find here will apply to other courses and projects as well. You can find information on the following:

  • Finding articles using library databases
  • Finding books (both print and e-format) in the library catalog
  • Assessing information for credibility
  • Citing your sources appropriately

How to find e-books through the library website (lib.utexas.edu). Since the libraries will be operating at limited capacity this fall, we recommend relying mostly on online materials.

  • Also contains information about HathiTrust and Get-a-Scan

How to find background information (through encyclopedias and dictionaries), newspaper articles, and scholarly articles using library databases

The internet contains millions of useful sites and articles. This page will help you evaluate websites for credibility and place information in context.
