1) Go to company or organization websites
Review how the company or organization presents themselves and their products or initiatives to the public. Their sites may share reports, strategic plans and data that aren't available other places. If you need older information, try looking up an archived version of their websites on the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine.
2) Use our Business databases
If a company is publicly traded, they're obligated to share data and reports. These are often gathered and made searchable in our business databases. You'll also use these databases find articles from trade publications that discuss companies and there initiatives/products. The tools below are good starting places, but you may also want to check out our Company Research guide too.
3) Review Tax Filings (for nonprofits)
Nonprofits' 990 tax returns are publicly available and can give you some important info about these organizations, especially financial information like revenues, expenses and compensation.
