Activity

Brainstorming Your Planning

Take 10 minutes to start thinking about your planning process. Answer the questions below for a class discussion.

Files

  • What type of files do you plan on using? (photos, videos, oral recordings, text, etc.)
  • Do you already have files?
  • How many files do you anticipate having?

Metadata

  • Did you create the files or grab them from somewhere else? If files are owned by someone else, who?
  • Does the item already have metadata, or are you creating the metadata?

Platform

  • What platform are you considering? And why?
  • What are you hoping to demonstrate from your platform?

Rights

  • If you are using items belong to someone else, do you have permission to use those items?
  • How are you going to cite your sources?

Creating Metadata

Select up to 5 items you currently have and begin creating metadata for your items. Make a copy of the Metadata Organization Spreadsheet
