As a scientist communicating with the public, what if you want to go beyond sharing your science with an interested audience and advocate for Science? What if the audience doesn’t listen or believe you? For the 2018 Public Engagement Workshop, we are excited to focus on topics specifically requested by BEACONites grappling with making their communication goals a reality: connecting with and framing a message for specific audiences and bridging the gap between STEM and public policy. We are excited to welcome Texas State Representative Donna Howard, who is a nurse and former health educator, and Stephanie Chiarello Noppenberg, senior policy analyst, community educator, and improv comedian to our workshop to talk about science, policy, and reaching policy makers.
