What Faculty Need to Know

Students may be unfamiliar with the resources and services of the Libraries and other academic support services. Tell your students about the academic support services available to them, add links to your Canvas site and encourage them to seek assistance.

Research Help

You and your students can instant message, email or visit us for research help.
Request a Consultation
This form will be routed to the appropriate librarian for your research question. Subject liaisons have contact information on their research guides if you want to reach out directly.
Research and course guides
Direct students to explore guides to help with all aspects of research, from finding resources, to evaluating them to citing them; or embed guides in your Canvas site. Guides created for courses at the request of faculty are also available and automatically linked to Canvas courses.

Spaces and Technology

Study Spaces:The Libraries offers silent, quiet and collaborative study spaces throughout campus. Students may book group study and presentation practice rooms, or collaborate using technology in the Learning Labs and on the 5th floor of the PCL with no reservation. Graduate students may use their ID cards to access the Graduate Landing Spot in the PCL Scholars Commons.

Technology: The Libraries offers computers, scanning and printing throughout campus. Students may access specialized equipment and software in the Media Lab, the Scholars Comons Data Lab, and the Scholars Lab in PCL, and T he Foundry in the Fine Arts Library. Many campus libraries also check out equipment including chargers, headphones, scientific calculators, and mics. Staff are available to assist students in person and via chat.

Writing Help

University Writing Center (UWC)
Undergraduate and graduate students may make appointments for consultations at any stage of the writing process. The UWC, a service of the Department of Rhetoric & Writing offered in the PCL Learning Commons, also provides online handouts on many aspects of writing.
Services for Graduate Students
In addition to individual consultations, graduate students can take advantage of workshops, weekly writing groups, and writing retreats.

Public Speaking Help

Public Speaking Center (PSC)
Undergraduate and graduate students may make appointments with trained student speech consultants for help with a public speaking assignment.

Tutoring and Study Skills

Sanger Learning Center
The Sanger Learning Center provides one-on-one tutoring, drop-in tutoring, peer led study groups, and supplemental instruction to help students master course content. Learning specialists and peers consultants also support the development of successful academic skills ranging from study techniques to test taking.
