More Research Support

Korean Collections Consortium of North America (KCCNA) is a consortium of Korean Studies Librarians in North America. Its primary mission is to support Korean Studies teaching and research programs in North America. Its members select, organize, and make available Korean Studies scholarly resources, and provide library services to optimize access and use of the Korean Studies collections developed through the Korean Collection Consortium of North America.

KCCNA maintains a Ask a Korean Studies Librarian service. You can email your reference questions to askkorea@kccna.libanswers.com

More details, see https://kccna.libguides.com/home/askkorea.

Searching Korean Materials

Most North American Libraries follow the Library of Congress romanization rules for Korean materials, which is based on the McCune-Reischauer system. There are several other major romanization rules, including the Revised Romanization of Korea and the Yale system. Romanization is the best to get comprehensive search results. When searching, you can omit any diacritics (i.e. breve, apostrophe, etc.).
