Project Planning

Getting Started

Initial Project Planning Questions

  • What is the message that you're planning to communicate?
  • Who is your audience?
  • What digital skills do you have? You probably have more than you might think.

Tips for Project Management & Staying Organized

Project Management

  • Pick one place where you will store all of your project files. (example- Google Drive, UT Box)
    • Especially important if you're working with a group!
  • Do your writing in a word processor like Word or Google Docs and then copy the final text into your tool.
    • Word processors autosave your work so it doesn't get lost. Not all publishing tools have this feature.
  • Give your self plenty of time!
    • Learning a new tool can take extra time. It's easier to learn if you're not rushing to meet a deadline.

File naming

  • Give your files descriptive names so that you can see at a glance what's in your folder

Confidentiality

  • Decide if you're planning to publish under your own name or use an alias- either choice is okay!
