Talking about language and identity in the classroom is challenging. In many of these documents, you will see terms (such as 'alien') that are outdated and considered at best inaccurate and at worst offensive today. Other times, your students will come across documents that use disparaging language to describe others.
These are moments for transformational learning, but they are tough.
