How to Cite News

Sometimes, it can be difficult to find a link to articles found in Factiva and Nexis Uni databases. In such cases, in place of the URL, you can note the date of access and add Retrieved from Factiva. See example of that below in Chicago style. 

Note: If the author's name is not listed, begin the citation with the title of the article.

APA

Format

Lastname, F. M. (Year, Month Date). Title of article. Title of Publication. URL

Example

MLA

Format

Author's Last Name, First Name. "Title of Article: Subtitle if Any." Title of Website, Date of Publication, URL. 

Example

Mbah, Fidelis. “‘We Need Justice’: Nigerians to Keep up #EndSARS Pressure.” Al Jazeera, 11 Oct. 2020, https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2020/10/11/mixed-reactions-trail-dissolution-of-nigeria-police-unit.
