About

The Historical Music Recordings Collection (HMRC) is an extensive archive of audio recordings in myriad formats, reflecting the history of recorded sound. The collection contains approximately 300,000 items across a range of genres, predominantly classical, yet with considerable holdings of original cast recordings of movies, musicals and Broadway shows, early jazz and blues, and pop from the 1950s to the 80s. Within the HMRC two types of collections can be found: the general collection and the more specific, named collections.

The collection is currently CLOSED to physical donations/gifts.
