Scan Tech Studio (STS)

This guide provides orienting information and tutorials for the Digitization and Text Recognition Hub in the PCL Scholars Lab.

Home

Welcome

The Scholars Lab houses the Scan Tech Studio, which functions as a self-service facility for independent user digitization, image processing, and text recognition-based scholarship. This facility provides access to scanning equipment and software to cater to a variety of digitizing requirements. Patrons are encouraged to explore the Equipment and Software pages on the lefthand menu for a comprehensive list of available resources.

With the Scan Tech Studio at the Scholars Lab, you can:

  • Learn how to use scanners effectively for independent digitization projects, including learning about the copyright implications for your project.
  • Learn and use software for creating machine-readable documents (with optical character recognition or handwritten text recognition: OCR/HTR).
  • Learn about and apply digital methods to machine-readable materials.
  • Manage and preserve the outputs of your digitization and analysis.

Hours of Operation: Please visit UT Libraries Hours page for information on the hours of operation. Hours are subject to change.
