As a UT student, you have free unlimited access to the New York Times (including Cooking, Games, and The Athletic) at nyt.com. This access to the NY Times is provided by the UT Libraries. Your access to the NY Times is directly through the site and/or the app, which makes the reading experience easier and more enjoyable.

The New York Times provides invaluable coverage of national and world events, and is often considered the "paper of record." Reading a paper and being an informed citizen makes doing research in every subject easier. Take advantage of this access while you're here at UT!

To do independently: The sample source, skim it to get an idea of what it is about and notice the important characteristics of the source. Think about the evaluation criteria we discussed. Feel free to use Google if you need to learn more some aspect of your sources.

Then: Talk about your sources at your table, use the following questions (feel free to record on a whiteboard):

Who created this source? Can you find out more about them?
What evidence did the authors use to create this source?
Is this a credible source that you could use to help make decisions about your health?
What criteria (more than one, probably) did you use to help you make this decision?
