Environmental Ethics

Environmental Ethics: The Land Ethic and Aldo Leopold, YouTube (4:47)

Liz DeHart, Marine Science Librarian, has visited the Aldo Leopold Nature Center. It's a beautiful and remarkable facility! A short, 35-40 minute drive will take you to "The Shack," a rebuilt chicken coop along the Wisconsin River where Dr. Leopold and his family stayed on long retreats. An outside pump provided water and there was no electricity.

Holmes Rolston III, philosopher and "father of environmental ethics."

"We rationalize that the place we inhabit has no normative structures, and that we can do what we please."

— 'Are Values in Nature Subjective or Objective?', Environmental Ethics (1982)[8]
