The OER Working Group regularly hosts workshops (virtually, for now) on topics related to OER and other open practices. When topics and dates are determined, you can find them here or learn about them by signing up for the open education & pedagogy interest list.

Other Professional Development Opportunities

There are many conferences, workshops, and presentations related to OER and other open education topics each year. Many are even free to attend, though some do have registration fees. Selected upcoming events are listed below with links to register. 

  • "E"ffordability Summit: A free, virtual event hosted by the University of Wisconsin System and University of Minnesota System open to all educational professionals who are dedicated to improving course resources and reducing student cost through open education and other means. This event provides a venue to share knowledge, dismantle barriers, and identify ways to work together for our students.   • Arizona Regional OER Conference: This virtual conference is free and open to the public, and the programming is relevant to advocates, practitioners, and anyone else interested in open education. Learn more and register here. (Thursday, 3/3 - Friday, 3/4)
  • Open Education Symposium: The University of Alberta, Centre for Teaching and Learning is celebrating Open Education Week by hosting their second Open Education Symposium, which is free, virtual, and open to the public. While the symposium sessions are oriented to instructors, they invite everyone from the education community to participate—instructors, students, librarians, educational developers, instructional designers and more!   • Missouri Affordable & Open Educational Resources Conference: The theme of this year’s conference will be centered around pathways to A&OER. Presenters and attendees will explore the variety of ways or paths that the educational community can take towards access and awareness of affordability and open educational resources endeavors.
