Open Educational Resources

Upcoming Workshops & Other Training Opportunities

Workshops at UT

The OER Working Group regularly hosts workshops (virtually, for now) on topics related to OER and other open practices. When topics and dates are determined, you can find them here or learn about them by signing up for the open education & pedagogy interest list.

Other Professional Development Opportunities

There are many conferences, workshops, and presentations related to OER and other open education topics each year. Many are even free to attend, though some do have registration fees. Selected upcoming events are listed below with links to register.

  • LibreFest (July 18, 20, 22): This year's annual LibreFest will be held virtually across 3 dates, and sessions will begin at 8am PST/12 pm EST. This hands-on workshop will provide three half days of teaching and working sessions covering how to create OER, how to modify existing OER to build textbooks and other learning resources, as well as how to use LibreText's new ADAPT homework system. Participants will be expected to prepare for the meeting in advance with materials provided by the LibreTexts team. By the end of the week all participants will have created, or adapted, an OER that can be used, or further modified for their future courses. The registration fee is $10 and includes a t-shirt. Register by July 1.
  • Open Texas 2022 (Sept. 21 - 23): Save the date for the second annual Open Texas conference. The 2022 conference will be held fully online and free to attend. This year’s conference theme, "The Labor of Open Education," invites participants to reflect on the work, creativity, art, and science of open education. View the call for proposals.
  • Open Education Conference (Oct. 17 - 20): Save the the Open Education Conference, an annual convening for sharing and learning about OER, open pedagogy, and open education initiatives. This dynamic gathering celebrates the core values of open education that strive to realize education ecosystems that are accessible, affordable, equitable and inclusive to everyone, regardless of their background. This year's event will be virtual. Sign up for updates and watch for registration to open
