The OER Working Group regularly hosts workshops (virtually, for now) on topics related to OER and other open practices. When topics and dates are determined, you can find them here or learn about them by signing up for the open education & pedagogy interest list.
Friday, 9/30 | 9:30 - 11:00am
The UT OER Working Group is hosting a workshop to introduce participants to open educational resources (OER). Instructors can leverage the open licenses assigned to OER to offer their students free, immediate access to course materials as well as to copy and adapt those materials to meet the needs of their course.
Participants will gain hands-on experience exploring the resources available in commonly used OER discovery tools. Strategies for incorporating other forms of free and low-cost course materials will also be discussed briefly.
The virtual workshop is free and open to UT faculty, graduate students, and staff, but registration is required. Register here.
By the end of this workshop, participants will:
Be able to describe and identify open educational resources (OER)
Understand benefits of using OER or other low-cost materials
Know how to find existing OER in a repository
There are many conferences, workshops, and presentations related to OER and other open education topics each year. Many are even free to attend, though some do have registration fees. Selected upcoming events are listed below with links to register.
