Remote Delivery for Off-Campus Users

Remote Delivery serves university users that are not able to pick up Interlibrary Loan or University of Texas Libraries materials from our campus libraries due to their work, research or residential location.

We serve two types of users with the Remote Delivery service:

  • University users whose current address is more than 50 miles away from main campus.
  • University users at Austin offices and work sites with Campus Mail Codes that are not based on the UT Main Campus.

How does it work?

Type of User How books are delivered How to return books
University user with a residential address 50+ miles from Main Campus We ship items to you via UPS Package securely and use the included prepaid US Mail shipping label. Drop your package off at any US post office. You can also return your books in-person to a Libraries location on campus.
University user at Austin office or worksite with a Campus Mail Code We will send your books to your Campus Mail Code in our reusable blue nylon bags. Return your books in the same blue nylon bags via Campus Mail. You can also return your books in-person to a Libraries location on campus.

Am I eligible?

Remote Delivery services are available for current students, faculty, and staff with a valid UT EID. This can include online students, faculty on sabbatical as well as students, faculty and staff at Austin offices and work sites not based on the Main Campus.

How do I sign up for Remote Delivery?

Log in to your Interlibrary Loan account to access your user options. Click the "Change User Information" link under the "Tools" subheading of the left-hand navigation menu. Select "Remote Delivery" from the drop-down menu in the Location Status field. If you have a Campus Mail Code, include it in your address. If you do not have a Campus Mail Code, please enter your residential address for receiving packages via UPS.

Can I renew Remote Delivery items?

Most Libraries items (that do not have outstanding holds for other patrons) can be renewed to extend the due date by logging into your account through the Library Catalog. If a Libraries book is recalled, you will need to return the book by the due date given in the recall notice email. Most books borrowed via Interlibrary Loan are renewable. Renewals are at the discretion of the lending library.
