Learning Outcome: Students will identify criteria and strategies to use to evaluate information
This in-class activity is useful as a starting point for teaching students how to evaluate sources. This activity surfaces the strategies and criteria students already use. Through the discussion, your students will revise and build upon their existing knowledge to identify criteria and actions to take when evaluating sources.
After this activity, consider an assignment that asks students to find a source and evaluate it based on what they learned during the activity. Some options are an annotated bibliography with evaluation as part of the annotation and a source analysis for at least one source.
