Welcome to ABBYY FineReader at UT Austin
ABBYY FineReader is Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software that converts scanned documents, images, and non-searchable PDFs into editable, machine-readable formats. With ABBYY, users can convert image files into formats such as .docx, .pptx, .pdf (searchable), and more. The software supports recognition in nearly 100 languages and can process multilingual documents.
This guide will help you:
Prepare documents for optimal use with ABBYY FineReader
Use the software to detect and reproduce both simple and complex layouts
Train ABBYY to recognize characters and improve accuracy using user patterns
Review and edit OCR output
Export results to formats including .txt, .HTML, .doc, .pdf, and .csv
