Getting Started

In this section, you will learn how to access the program and familiarize yourself with ABBYY FineReader’s homepage.


Log into a computer in the Scan Tech Studio, find ABBYY FineReader PDF, and open the application. 

Once it is open, you should be directed to the opening page.

 

User Interface Overview

 On the top left side, you will find the file Menu options:

  • Open - allows you to load and access exciting documents in the program.
  • Save - allows you to save your project and progress.
  • Export - allows you to save your working document in different formats, like Word or PDF. 
  • Convert - uses a scanned or image-based document using OCR to make the text in the document editable and searchable. 

OCR Editor 

OCR (Optical Character Recognition) is a technology that converts different types of documents, such as scanned paper documents and PDFs, into editable and searchable data.

OCR allows users to:

  • Extract text from scanned images or PDFs.
  • Search within documents.
  • Edit content from non-digital sources.
  • Export to Word, Excel, searchable PDF, and more.

 

Toolbar

Enables access to features such as text editing, comparison, and annotation.
