Annotating and Editing PDFs

Opening and Annotating PDFs is helpful when:

  • When reviewing document drafts or manuscripts, you need to mark up changes. 

  • Collaborating with classmates or colleagues on a shared document

  • Annotating directly on the reading

  • Preparing for presentations 

To start annotating your PDFs

  • Open ABBYY FineReader

  • On the top left menu of the home screen, click "open" and select the PDF file you want to work with. 

  • You will then be redirected to the PDF viewer/ editor page. 

 


 

Once you have opened your document, you can use the menu bar to annotate, highlight, or comment.

  • Highlight: Select a color to highlight your text with

  • Underline: Marks text for emphasis

  • Add a comment: select the note icon, then you can click anywhere in the document to insert your comment in the pop-up box.
