Choose a discipline

How to narrow your discipline

Libraries help people do research. You might be surprised at how specific you can get within a broader discipline. There are 800 databases here at the Libraries and many special collections that cater to specific fields. Use the links to explore how broader disciplines are broken down and what databases, collections  and concerns folks who study in these disciplines consider.

Wikipedia

I'm recommending you use Wikipedia because it's a succinct way to investigate how broader disciplines (like history) are broken down. If you find yourself liking something that you want to cite, follow the citation's footnote. You can paste the title of the resource into www.lib.utexas.edu and see if we have electronic access.
