Biological Waste Management

  • Biological waste includes:
    • Infectious agents, toxins, human/animal cells, recombinant material, culture media, contaminated PPE, pipette tips
  • Disposal; (i) place material in autoclave bag, (ii) loosely close bag and autoclave, (iii) apply treated tag and place in garbage bag for disposal

  • Place sharps in sharp container
  • Do not attempt to re-cap needles or take needles out of the sharps container
