From the UT Libraries' homepage, search with the keywords that best match your interests...
Once results are returned, use the limits along the left to narrow your results and make them more useful. It's particularly helpful to set "Resource Type: Books", choose the "Available Online" option if you only want eBooks, and set your date limits to something recent.
Most recent social work books will be ebooks. If the results indicate that the book is "Available Online", simply click on the title of the book to view the item's full catalog record. Scroll down and you'll see your options for accessing the book online.
Physical books books will display a message that indicates which library holds the item, and where it can be found on the shelf (the call number)
If you need a book right away, use the call number to find the book on the shelf and then check it out at the library's service desk with your UT ID.
If you have a few days, and would like us to pull the book and place it on hold for you, or if a book you need is checked out to someone else, just follow these steps:
1) Click on the book's title from the results page. 2) Look for the "Get It" section. 3) Log in with your EID. 4) Fill out the request form. We'll email you when the book is ready for pick up. This usually takes a day or two.

Google Books searches inside the full text of books, and it's a great way to find books that are a good match for you. Google cannot share copyright books cover-to-cover. If you need more than the excerpt, check the Library Catalog to see if UT owns the book. If we don't, remember that you can place a request through Interlibrary Loan or make a purchase recommendation.
To only see results that offer full text, choose the "full view" option at the top of the search results page. This is a good option if you're trying to track down historic policy or government documents that may have been scanned from library collections.
Choose to browse by "Department" and then "Social Work" to find dissertations for your college.
Faculty committee chairs and members will be indexed as authors, so you can easily find examples of dissertations your faculty supervised.
