A List

Some of these organizations provide resources that may be of use freely; others require that you become a member to access the information. While you might not need to use these websites while in school, they are important to keep in mind as you transition from student to professional.

The Alliance for Historic Landscape Preservation
The Alliance for Historic Landscape Preservation is an inter-disciplinary professional organization which provides a forum for communication and exchange of information among its members. It is dedicated to the preservation and conservation of historic landscapes in all their variety, from formal gardens and public parks to rural expanses.
The Alliance for Preservation Commissions
Includes information on training and education, advocacy, professional networks, technical guidance, and preservation plans.
American Cultural Resources Association
This is a professional business organization for people working in cultural resource management, history, archaeology, architectural history, historic preservation, and landscape architecture.
The American Institute for Conservation (AIC)

Canadian Heritage Information Network
CHIN, the "electronic gateway to museum community in Canada and beyond." The "Research and Reference" section provides access to several databases, including Conservation Information Network (BCIN), Museology Bibliography (BMUSE), Curatorial and Historical Index of Publications, Heritage Law Bibliography, and more.
Getty Conservation Institute
International Council on Monuments and Sites
An international non-governmental organization of professionals, dedicated to the conservation of the world's historic monuments and sites. ICOMOS provides a forum for professional dialogue and a vehicle for the collection, evaluation, and dissemination of information on conservation principles, techniques, and policies. Links to national committees, international scientific committees, news, and more.
National Conference of State Historic Preservation Officers (NCSHPO)
National Trust for Historic Preservation
This site provides comprehensive information about the Trust's programs and services.
